It's a New Year and I'm sure you've already been inundated with the latest diet, exercise & wellness trend to convince you that's the new way forward - to a "new you".
Please don't believe "the hype". You don't need to create a new you. We like you just the way you are! (To quote Mark Darcy). And more importantly - is that YOU like you. Don't you think?
The thing is, it's fine to create goals and resolutions but they have to be practical and also realistic. Am I about to run a marathon tomorrow? Absolutely not. I hate running unless I really need to. But a marathon is a big deal. You don't just get up and run. You need to train. Consistently and a lot to be able to run in a marathon. I also run like Phoebe from friends - legs and arms flailing. Running is a discipline. Like anything you wish to start you need to start small. Otherwise motivation is lost. It must be possible, even what seems impossible now can be made possible by breaking things into smaller steps.
Also to focus on achieving and acknowledging those small steps once fulfilled.
So if you're thinking about doing something new or aim to have a healthier diet then make it enjoyable and don't give yourself a hard time. Your body can hear you! Encourage it, help it.
We are just warming up again in January - so give yourself time and don't force it. It's not about creating a new you, it's about evolving from who you already are.
Knowing what helps you and what hinders you. Finely tuning those areas to help you feel more like you; healthier, happier and more at peace.
Let me know your thoughts.
Wishing you all the very best for 2024.
